Where does custom illustration design actually get used

Most people turn up with a gap that a photograph won’t fill. A cutaway showing how your machine works. A character for the side of the van. A little map of where the farm shop hides. A label for a jar that needs to look drawn rather than shot. Illustration covers all of that, because somebody sits down and makes the picture instead of hunting for one that nearly fits. You say roughly what you want and where it’s going, it gets sketched, and you say yes or move things about before anything is coloured in. That sketch stage is the part that saves you, because shifting a pencil line is nothing and shifting a finished piece is not. At the end the artwork comes to you in a format that scales, so the same drawing sits happily on a business card and on the side of a lorry without going fuzzy.

Can you draw in a style I’ve seen somewhere else

Show us the thing you like and say what appeals about it. Copying another artist outright is off the table, but a look you’re after is a perfectly good starting point.

Do I own the drawing when it’s finished

Yes. The artwork is yours, files and all, and you can put it wherever you want later without asking permission or paying again.

Can you work from my rough sketch

Please do send it. A biro scribble on the back of a delivery note tells us more at a glance than a long email, and it usually saves a lot of back and forth.
