Newsletter design
Should my newsletter be printed or emailed
A newsletter people actually open, laid out once so the next one only needs the words swapping over.
You get a layout built to be reused, in print, by email, or both. Drop your own news into it next time, or send it over and it gets dropped in for you.
What makes newsletter design worth the trouble
The design is the easy half. The hard half is having something to say, and that’s where most newsletters quietly die after the second issue. Before anything gets laid out, work out what you’d put in a few of them: a job you were proud of, a change in the rules your customers ought to know about, a new face, a seasonal warning, an offer if you’ve got one. If you can fill a few, a newsletter is worth doing. If you can only fill one, send a letter instead and keep the money. Once the shape is set, the layout gets built to hold different amounts of text without falling apart, because the second issue never carries the same content as the first. Print and email versions share one look, so people who get both recognise it, and you’re not paying to design the same thing twice.
| What you’re weighing | Printed | Emailed |
|---|---|---|
| Getting seen | Sits on the counter or the kitchen table | Read that morning or not at all |
| What it costs to send | Paper and postage every time | Much the same whatever the list size |
| Knowing it worked | You judge it by who rings you | You can see who opened it |
Questions people actually ask
Can you send the emails as well
Yes, or set it up so you can. If you’d rather press send yourself, the template sits in your own account, and nobody holds the keys to your list but you.
I’ve only got a scruffy customer list
Start there anyway. A short list of people who already know you beats a big one you bought, and what you’ve got can be tidied up before anything goes out.
What if I miss one
Nothing happens. There’s no schedule to keep and no fee ticking over, so the next one goes out when you’ve got something worth saying rather than because it’s due.
What will it cost
Depends what you want, so ask. Ring 01823 242424 or email info@reor.co.uk, tell us what you need, and you get a price. One job, one price, done.
