Voiceover recording
Who's going to read my script
A voice recorded and cleaned up for your video, your animation, or the message people hear on hold.
You get finished audio in the file type your video editor or phone system asks for. Pick the voice first, then hear it read your actual words.
What should I sort out before booking a voiceover
Start with the script, because it decides most of the cost and all of the quality. Read it out loud against the video you’re making; almost everybody writes too much, then wonders why the voice sounds rushed. Cut anything you wouldn’t say to a customer standing in front of you. Then pick a voice: warm, brisk, local, or the calm one that suits a message people hear while they’re waiting. You get to hear the options before anything is booked. Phone systems are fussier than video, so say which system you’re on and the audio comes back in the format it wants, instead of one you have to convert yourself. Write out how you say your own business name, and any Somerset place names, because Wiveliscombe catches people out. Change the script later and you re-record the line that changed, not the whole lot.
Questions people actually ask
Can I use my own voice
You can, and sometimes you should. If your accent is the point, you get recorded and cleaned up; if you can’t stand hearing yourself back, somebody else reads it for you.
Do I pay again if I change the wording
Only for what changes. Keep the recording in sections and a new line stays a small job, so you’re not redoing a whole script that was mostly fine as it was.
Can you drop it onto the video for me
Yes, or you get the audio to drop in yourself. Say what you’re editing in, and the file lands on your timeline without you messing about converting it.
What will it cost
Depends what you want, so ask. Ring 01823 242424 or email info@reor.co.uk, tell us what you need, and you get a price. One job, one price, done.
