Brochure design
What should actually go in my brochure
A brochure people read to the end, drawn up so the printing bill doesn’t swallow the point of it.
You get finished artwork, and the printed brochures out of the same building if you want them. Page count, paper, and folds get settled before any design starts, so the print cost holds no nasty surprises.
How much brochure design do I actually need
Start with what the brochure has to do, because that decides everything after it. If it gets handed over at the end of a quote, it can be short and mostly proof: what you do, what it looked like when you did it, and who to ring. If it sits on a counter and has to sell on its own, it needs more room to answer the obvious questions. Once you’re stapling, pages come in multiples of four, so a brochure grows in jumps rather than one page at a time, and that’s worth knowing before you write reams of copy. Photographs carry more weight than anything you write, so decent pictures of your own work beat stock every time. Send over what you’ve got, even if it’s rough notes and phone photos, and you’ll get a layout that reads properly rather than one that just looks busy.
| Format | Good for | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Folded leaflet | Handing out, posting, counters | Easy to post and to carry |
| Stapled booklet | A full range or a price list | Pages come in multiples of four |
| Loose sheets in a folder | Anything you change often | Reprint one sheet, not the lot |
Questions people actually ask
Can you write the words too
Yes, or you write them and the repetition gets cut. Most people send a rough version, and it comes back shorter and clearer than the thing they sent in.
What if I want it printed somewhere else
Take the files and go. You own the artwork, and you get a print-ready PDF that any decent printer will accept without ringing you back with awkward questions.
Do I need loads of pages
Rarely. A short brochure that gets read beats a thick one that goes in the bin, and if you find yourself padding it out, that’s a sign to stop and keep the money.
What will it cost
Depends what you want, so ask. Ring 01823 242424 or email info@reor.co.uk, tell us what you need, and you get a price. One job, one price, done.
